Producing income from your online business boils down to this very simple formula.

Targeted Traffic + Converting offer = $$$$$

You need targeted traffic going to a converting offer for your product or service, or if you’re an affiliate some body’s offer or product which you make a commission from. When people start an online business they often seem to think if they put up a website, traffic will somehow magically get to it and people will buy there stuff or services.

The old *Build it and they will come* saying comes to mind here… but that’s NOT the case.

Fair enough, some people may get lucky with a finely tuned SEO optimized site that kills the competition and gets highly ranked in Google organic searches, but for 99% of people starting an online business, with virtually zero funding that cannot afford to pay a SEO guru to optimize there website… what do those people do ?

There are a number of things i ask people and give specific advice to each but here is a generalisation.

The first thing i ask is do they have any kind of funding to throw into traffic generation?

Obviously if you want to grow quickly then throwing money into traffic generation activities will help to achieve that. When you have a substantial amount of funding you can invest in growth by utilising paid methods of traffic generation such as CPA networks where you pay affiliates per lead to bring you traffic, and most of the CPA sites are filled with super affiliates, guys that can send enormous amounts of traffic to your offer or services.

The downside to this, is it can be costly, and you better make sure your offer converts well or else you’ll be wasting a ton of money and the affiliates time, and they’ll end up promoting somebody’s else converting offer if you’s is’nt cutting it for them.

Another way is to utilise the Google’s Adwords service, a Pay Per Click model where you pay for each prospect or lead that clicks on your website link. This area can be very competing, and what happens is that competitors for specific keywords will bid for that keyword, and the highest bidder will usually get a higher ranking in the paid search area of Google, normally the ads you see along the right hand side of Google’s search engine.

It can be a good way to generate traffic if you know what your doing. But you should never just jump into this area, because you may get eaten alive! I know people that have lost considerable amounts of money by jumping in the deep end before doing there due diligence. Learn everything you can about this advertising model first before jumping in!

OK, so these are examples of paid advertising you can utilise to grow faster, but not always necessarily the best. Now, like i said earlier, what about the little guys that have absolutely ZERO funding to generate website traffic. What do i tell these folks?

I usually tell them to use FREE forms of website traffic, and there are MANY of them which can also be effective. The first thing i tell them is to utilize the power of social media, sites like Facebook or Twitter are excellent starting places…

In fact i love TWITTER the best for social media marketing because of the really cool tools you can easily use to generate a massive amount of following fairly easily. If you do NOT have a Twitter account yet then you MUST go set one up right away… after all it’s free right ? www.Twitter.com

Anyway’s just in case you do NOT know what Twitter is about then here’s a brief explanation. It’s a platform where you can place updates on your life or business, and build up followers and friends that see your messages everyday. Using this model effectively can generate traffic to your product services.

Now i probably wont go to much into detail here about how to utilize this to maximum benefit because it would take a book on it’s own to educate you, but there are many products out there that can educate you on this subject.

Instead I’ll throw you a bone and tell you of some awesome tools you can use to get targeted traffic using Twitter. First i should mention that you should never use Twitter in the wrong way, blatantly using Twitter to spam your website links is the WRONG way to use Twitter.

The way you should use twitter is to post valuable comments on your updates, and interact with people. That way people will check out your profile and read what your about and then check out your website through the link on your profile.

So how do you attract the RIGHT kind of people to your offer using Twitter? After all, were after TARGETED website traffic/visitors to our product and service. That way they have a greater chance of becoming a customer.

Well… what if you could attract ALL the the targeted prospects you want with effortless ease? Would that be of interest to you ? attracting ALL the targeted Twitter users that would be classed as highly targeted leads for your product of service…?

(In this first question i asked what kind of training would be most appealing, i honestly thought that List Building and eBay training would be one of the top two, as it turns out i was wrong, and Affiliate Marketing  and Traffic training were of the top two choices. )

(Now this was a REAL shocker – i honestly believed that more people preferred training over the Internet via training calls or a webinar, but it turned out more people actually prefer home study courses.)

(Now there was no way i would ever of thought that more people would prefer manuals rather than video or even audio or mp3s – i normally prefer audio because i can listen to it while driving etc)

It’s been one hell of a ride so far!! Lots has happened. I’ve enjoyed sharing my personal experiences whilst i’ve been growing my online businesses and hopefully if your one of my dear and valuable subscribers, you have learned at least one thing from me i hope!!

Here’s how i have progressed this year and some of things which i really enjoyed.

I have built some very close relationships and new friends in the online business world this year which has had a tremendous impact on me. To say my mind has been opened up to a wide open world of unlimitless possibilities and opportunities is an understatement.

I see this past year and one giant learning curve, after spending the last few years before on my ebay businesses, i have now learned a great deal about marketing products and services through other mediums online.

I got myself a business mentor which has turned out to be a very wise choice, and has attracted me to the right people and the right opportunities i have been after.

I have enjoyed many online related business seminars and have traveled as far as the US and up and down the UK to meet and learn from the best online entreprenuers in the world. Not to mention my buddy Dean Holland, who is also an online entrepreneur and my trusty accountability partner.

I’d like to give him a big thanks for his support this year! So thanks Deano!!

So things have been progressing nicely, and in 2010 I’ll be taking even more action to achieve some pretty high and incredible goals for myself. I think it’s very important that you set some goals for yourself no matter how big or small they are.. i believe that setting goals for your career/success is almost a MUST to make your dreams a reality.

I really hope that you achieve your goals this year, and I’ll be here to help and support you every step of the way.

Thing thing is.. when we first start an online venture for the first time, the path is really muddy and we can’t see clearly in the direction we need to be heading. Especially these days as we are presented with so many opportunities its hard to discern one thing from the other. Just got back from Lee McIntyre’s Profit Max Workshop in Manchester and I’ll have to admit this was probably one of the best events I have ever been to. BTW Lee makes 100k a month online.. so he’s one guy who defiantly knows his stuff and somebody worth listening and learning from.

The content Lee McIntyre provided about how he’s currently running his online business was priceless. Alongside the great content we also had a really great time at the local bars, as you can see in the picture below…

Just reporting on a cool call i was on last night with my mentors Rich Schefren & Alex Jeffreys.. so thought I’d share some of it with ya. I’ll just dig into what i thought was one of the main important topics discussed.

If you don’t know who Rich is.. then I’ll tell you right here what he’s about. Rich is one of the biggest and most successful online entrepreneurs.. he’s considered the guru to the guru’s and has mentored most of the top names and well respected Internet Marketers out there.

Make no mistake.. Rich knows how to build a business.. not just in the online world.. but he’s built multi-million dollar companies offline to.. seriously this one guy i most highly respect..

I look up to Rich BIG TIME, that’s why when he opened his GPS coaching program i instantly paid him over $1000 to become my mentor.

Anyhow, one of the things Rich mentioned last night, and something which i felt was really really important, was your ability to partner.

Partnering is probably the fastest way to gain growth for your online business, but not just for marketing, but for everything else to.

That’s why you see me going to a lot of events to meet people.. because I’m building relationships with the guys i meet there, and potentially moulding a strategic partnership that could improve my growth.. besides that though i get to have a really great time, and learn stuff i can share with people that wanna learn from me.

If not then you really should start.

No matter what market your in online, building a partnership is vital to your success.. and that’s why I’ll be attending another event this week..
